Language Arts and Reading (English and Spanish)
The English Language Arts and Reading curriculum in English (PreK-12) and Spanish (PreK-5) at Irving ISD reflects instruction provided and aligned with the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS).
It has been developed and aligned to support and challenge students to listen, speak, read and write about relevant topics as they progressively build their literacy skills from the foundational stages through career readiness. Students will continue to acquire lifelong literacy skills imperative for success as members of a global society.
Resources provided within the curriculum are researched based, equitable, and available to all grade levels of students and teachers.

Math
The mission of the Irving ISD Mathematics program is to promote meaningful learning for all students through a comprehensive curriculum that is aligned to the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS).
Our program is committed to maximizing the learning of mathematics in which students are engaged in the process of making sense of mathematics, developing conceptual understanding of mathematical concepts, applying strategies for solving meaningful problems, and working as a community of learners.
The learning environment is based on exploration of mathematical concepts that builds conceptual understanding before continuing to the procedural process.

Social Studies
The Social Studies curriculum at Irving ISD reflects instruction provided aligned with the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS). The integrated curriculum will provide opportunities for students’ to increase understanding of their role as a citizen and to help students’ make informed and reasoned decisions for their community, state, nation, and the world.
Students acquire and use critical thinking skills to understand the diversity necessary to thrive in an interdependent world. As a result of their social studies education, students are prepared to be active citizens in a democratic society.

Science
The Science curriculum at Irving ISD reflects instruction provided and aligned with the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS). Elementary Science includes planning and safely implementing classroom and outdoor investigations using scientific processes, while addressing the major concepts and vocabulary in the context of physical, earth, and life sciences.
Secondary Science includes more advanced and specific study of energy transformation, physical and chemical properties of matter, organisms changes and responses, living systems, and earth systems.
In secondary students will also learn Biology, Chemistry and Physics. All science curriculum utilizes the 5E model and hands-on science experiments.
