Testing Location FURTHER INFORMATION These are rigorous assessments that thoroughly test the student's knowledge of the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills of the course or grade level. ELEMENTARY (K-5)Accelerated Kindergarten to First Grade Student must be 5 years old by September 1 of the new school year Achieves Stanine 8 (89th percentile) or above on all required tests
Acceleration Grades 1-5 (Skip a Grade Level) Scores 90% or above on each of the criterion-referenced tests for the grade level he or she wants to skip.It is recommended that parents talk with their child's teacher about observations of the child's use of advanced vocabulary, achievement at a level well above average, maturity factors, and strong academic abilities to help determine if the testing is appropriate.
SECONDARY (6-12) Without Prior Instruction Credit by examination is offered to students as an opportunity to receive credit for a course in which the student has received no prior instruction. A student may advance one grade level (6-8) or one course per subject area (6-12) in each testing period. With Prior Instruction Students may earn credit by examination if they have received prior instruction in the subject for which the examination is taken. |
