Security & Transportation Manager
Don has been employed with the District since January, 1991. In 1993, the District implemented a comprehensive Energy Management program. Don was assigned as Energy Management Specialist to help with the day-to-day operation and installation of the computerized Energy Management system. Don was promoted in 1997 to Energy Manager where he was responsible for the Energy Management Department, and a 6 million dollar annual utilities budget. Don served in that capacity until 2006. In June 2006 the District implemented new Security initiatives including CCTV, Keyless Entry, Visitor ID, and the Campus Auxiliary Officer program. Don was reassigned to Security Manager to oversee the implementation and management of these new programs. Today he oversees the day-to-day operations of a 49 member Security Department.
Marion Amick began his career with the district in July of 2006. Prior to coming to Irving ISD, he spent several years working in the private security field. His passion for safety and security comes from his dedication to the US Marine Corps where he served for 13 years in both the infantry and aviation fields.
