Dear Parents,

It is that time again for our students to take the STAAR test.

Monday, March 30th, 7th Grade Writing

Tuesday, March 31st, 8th Grade Reading & 7th Grade Writing

Monday, April 20th, 8th Grade Math

Tuesday, April 21st, 6th and 7th Grade Math, 8th Grade Social Studies

Wednesday, April 22nd , 6th and 7th Grade Reading, 8th Grade Science

Students throughout the state of Texas will also be taking these tests at the same time. These tests are very important, and there are many things that you can do to help your child be successful on this test:

  • Help your child get a good night’s rest.
  • Have your child arrive to school on time (7:30-7:50.) so they don’t feel rushed.
  • Even though the test window is 4 hours, the campus will be closed to visitors and volunteers all day. We are asking parents not to make afternoon appointments or pick up their students early.
  • Please make sure your child eats a protein enriched breakfast at home or they can receive a free breakfast as normal in the cafeteria.
  • Finally, send your child to school with a hug and words of encouragement!

  • Breakfast will be provided for each student each test day.
  • Due to security, parents cannot bring lunch to their student those days
  • Due to test security, parents cannot visit or eat lunch with their kids on test days.
  • No cell phones are allowed in the classroom during testing. They must remain off and stored in backpacks.
  • No “E Readers, Kindles, etc” as they are electronic devices.  We have checked with the district and they are not allowed on STAAR testing days.  The students need to have regular, “old fashioned” reading materials to read after they finish testing.

You make a big difference in how your child feels and performs each day in school, especially on test days.  Thank you for helping your child feel well prepared!
