Destination Imagination Mid-Cities Regional Tournament

Four DZ teams competed in the daylong challenge-based, problem solving competition at Richland High School in North Richland Hills.
Out of over 80 Irving teams competing, de Zavala did very well with three teams placing and bringing home medals.
A big thank you to Diana Morton, Rebecca Walther, and Jillian Attan for supporting the DZ Destination Imagination Teams!
Also a big thanks to the DZ staff who volunteered their time to be tournament appraisers: Janet Calvin, Juile Carr, Marcella Folks, and Melissa Romano.

Lorenzo DeZavala Middle School has been named to the College Board’s 5th Annual AP® District Honor Roll. The Honor Roll recognizes 547 school districts in the U.S. and Canada that have increased access to AP course work while maintaining or increasing the percentage of students earning scores of 3 or higher on AP Exams. In his seventh year at de Zavala Middle School, this Irving ISD alumni is bringing his love of history to the classroom.
A rock star in the community, Mr. Moss also brought his love of music to de Zavala by starting the school’s drum line to enhance school spirit and get the students involved in something positive and constructive after school.

In 2014-2015 thirteen de Zavala students competed in the Destination Imagination Mid-Cities Regional Tournament at Colleyville Heritage High School. Team Toxic Blue Sprinkles placed 5th in the Laugh Art Loud Division. Team Panda-money-um placed 2nd out of 14 teams in the Improv Pandemonium challenge. Additionally, they received the prestigious DaVinci Award for Outstanding Creativity.
