Have a Fun and Safe Summer!

 A Note from Mrs. Gregory

While there were no sleigh bells ringing nor Jack Frost nipping at our noses last week, Christmas did arrive in Cheryl's Garden at John R. Good with the loving and encouraging generosity of our Partner in Education, NCH Corporation of Irving.

Robin King, Carrie Nelson and John Vislosky arrived bearing buckets from afar filled with every kind of garden supply a gardener could imagine!  The buckets were signed with the names of the NCH volunteer who packed the supplies along with their home location and a note of encouragement!

We also beheld boxes loaded with new garden hoses, sprinklers, birdfeeders, pounds of birdseed, shiny containers for our birdseed, bags of squirrel corn, 4 Papa Bear size shovels, and squirrel feeders!!   Picnic tables will arrive in the fall to create an inviting environment for reading or lunching together.

It is difficult to find the right words to express what the generous gifts from NCH Corporation mean to the family of students, parents, teachers, and staff who are John R. Good.  Perhaps the greatest of all gifts, though, is the desire to come to our school, read to our classes, share lunch with us, mentor us, and develop a lasting relationship that will build a bridge to the future for our students. For that commitment NCH, and all of the gifts you have so freely given, we thank you!  The John R. Good Family

"When I was very young, most of my childhood heroes wore capes, flew through the air, or picked up buildings with one arm. They were spectacular and got a lot of attention.  But as I grew, my heroes changed, so that now I can honestly say that anyone who does anything to help a child is a hero to me." Fred Rogers
